Replacing top of rain bird valve

I have a loudly buzzing solenoid on a Rain Bird valve that I need to replace. The valve appears to be EITHER a CP100 or a DV100. The pictures on-line look the same. From what I can discern on line the main difference between the two is that the DV is better quality. If I just get a DV100 and take the top off, will it work will my valve even if mine is a CP100? If not, how can I tell which one I have?

Also, is the top half of the valve the same regardless of whether the valve is 3/4" or 1"? It seems this is the case because the repair kits do not seem size-specific.

Give it a shot. Looks like it'll fit. And yes, 3/4 and 1" are the same tops.
