Rain Bird XFS Drip Pooling on gentle slope

Last year we installed Rain Bird XFS drip irrigation in our flower/vegetable gardens. I have 2 very gentle slopes about 50' long with an approximate 15 degree drop. The lines are run horizontally and spaced per Rain Bird instructions. We have pooling at the bottom in both gardens with minimal watering at the top. Based on Rain Bird's specs, this should not be happening. I see that they carry a product that has check valves built in (XFS-CV) for steeper slopes and was wondering if anyone has used this product. Rain bird Customer Service wasn't much help.
