burying sprinkler heads
Can anyone provide any installation tips for installing sprinkler heads. specifically backfilling dirt around them and etc to keep them from sinking to low or staying too high when the dirt settles. I'm using "funny pipe" to connect to the laterals.
I use swing joints to connect my heads to the laterals.
I backfill the hole half way, pack it as much as you can, then fill the rest and pack that down and much as you can. Be sure not to backfill until you have tested all your stations for leaks, etc.
First Check for leaks, Teh beauty of funny pipe its like an extension cord. Align the head at grade and go a lil below (no more than 1/2") Backfill and pack around the base of the funny pipe and sprinkler head. Then adjust the head, because you may need to remove the internals and then fill in all the way. PACK GOOD!
