Rainbird ESP 6TM Transformer

The transformer is dead - checked it with a volt meter.

Can I use a universal or another transformer besides the T specifically for the ESP 6TM? There are transformers that are a lot cheaper than the T specifically for the unit. Some don't have the grounding wire the unit specific transformer has. Can I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rain-Bird-UT1-Replacement-Transformer/dp/B000DCN8LS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1487878275&sr=8-2&keywords=Sprinkler+controller+transformer

- remove the plastic plug?

The ESP 6TM transformer is 26.5 V. Does the amperage matter? I found one that's 24v, 750 mA, while the 6TM is 26.5, 650mA.

Go ahead with the Orbit transformer. It will do fine.

Just noticed the Orbit doesn't have a ground wire, while the original transformer does. Does that matter?

It does not matter. (as per the ESP-6TM instruction manual)

Ah, now I see it. In other words, RTFM.
