Toro Vision II Plus Controller

I moved into a house this year that had a 5 zone sprinkler system with a Toro Vision II Plus Controller.
As the summer has gone on, this thing seems to have a mind of its on with various issues appearing and disappearing. Recently I turned it off at the box, and now it will not turn back on and allow me to set programs or run manually even though there is power to the box (off showing in the display box). Any ideas?
Also wondering what would be a good "plug and play" replacement with the type of wiring I have with the Toro.
I see an exact Toro vision II new replacement on Ebay for $195 bucks. That seems like a lot to me.
I'd like to find something more economical and reliable.
Thanx in advance for your help...

The only reason you'd buy another of the same is that you like the dials, and are willing to pay for them. Strictly as entry-level controller pros will install, you can look at a Hunter XC 600i
