Cow / Horse Proof Riser

Any consensus out there on the best way to protect solid-set risers from cows and horses stepping on them or scratching on them?

I'm surprised there isn't a fold-down type spring loaded riser that I could use.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Aren't these things usually fenced off from animal contact? The general idea is to either make it super strong and durable, or get it out of reach.
