PC Control - is there anyone out there?

Ok, I have left this question out there for several months with not one response. All I want to know is, what do you think? The platform is great but the system is full of bugs. You can't tell me that I am the one and only world authority and only contractor who has installed this system. Speak up and let me know.

I was under the impression that this was a site filled with mostly contractors. What I am "talking about" is the Irritrol - PC-Control (see web site at: for more information). It has been in most trade magazines for the last year. I originally saw it when it was unveiled at the 2005 I.A. show.

I assume since you have no idea what I'm talking about, you have not used the system. I am seeking individuals who have used the system to help me sort through some of the programming bugs that I have discovered.

Contractors like to use stand-alone controllers, and see something like PC-Control as a gimmick. Spend more money and encounter 'programming bugs' while you're at it? I'll pass.

I'm interested in this controller. If you're looking for someone that is using it (along with the developers) try their forum at

We just tried it on one customer - a very computer oriented guy. He is very happy and enthusiastic about the product. Now I am thinking of getting one for myself. We have a nursery.

The only problem I see with it right now is that they don't yet offer controllers for outdoors - only indoors locations.

But our customer insisted on mounting it outside under an eave of his house.

I wish somebody would invent a computer operated program which could control wireless valves - boy would that simplify installation and revision!

Is anybody on this list willing to compare the Irritrol PC system with the Hunter Remote Control System? Or is there any other Remote Control or PC Control system available? And please keep in mind that the Irritrol system is capable of controlling the site lighting as well as the water valves.

I am not familiar with anything of Irritrol. I am however, familiar with the Rain-Bird IQ system, Maxicom, and the Hunter IMMMS. What is it that this program / platform does that you like or need?

The Irritrol PC system has not worked out for us at all. First it wouldn't power up the outdoor controller. So the owner returned it to them and they replaced it with another. But the new one would not make the valves operate. And Irritrol said, after many phone calls to experts at their corporate headquarters that they have no idea why it wouldn't work. So we are going to abandon the idea of computer control and go back to a standard 120 volt control box on the wall.
