Hunter I-20

I've got a Hunter I-20 head and the very top broke off - just the rubber protective cap and the plastic piece it sits on. So the green top of the sprinkler is exposed but everything works just fine. I know I can get a replacement rubber cap (the one I have is still fine), it is the plastic piece that it sits on that is broken and I can't figure out how to reattach it.

I'd rather not get a new I-20 since this is just a small protective part. Any suggestions on fixing this? Can I just keep the protective cap off and not worry about or is that a bad idea.

I'm new to sprinklers but trying to figure it out.

Thanks!

Hunter I-20 cap pictures

A few pictures to make it clear:

I realize now the head says "Rain Bird" but the cap top is clearly Hunter ... not sure what the deal is, the cap was next to the sprinkler head....

That I-20 top has nothing to do with the green topped Rainbird.
The Rainbird looks just fine. Leave it be.

Thanks mrfixit. After coming to the same realization as your observation, the only things that makes sense is that when I had some drain pipe run in that area last year, the guys broke the Hunter, replaced it with a Rain Bird, never told me, and the cap from the Hunter got lost in the leaves for me to find it later.

Thanks again!
