Toro custom eight system issues.

Toro Custom Eight Controller Broke

I have no sprinkler experience so here goes. My TORO timer is a Custom Eight Model# 123-01-12 Serial # 16185 and the timer no longer works. The system is "hydraulic" based and the local TORO dealer is quoting everyone in my subdivision $3,000 to $5,000 to convert it to electric. I'm thinking that's not going to work for me. So what can / should I do. Are there used controllers out there / conversion kits or a timer brand that can mechanically turn the wheel that my existing timer no longer does automatically. Is there someone who can assist me with locating the 8 valves for this system.
Thanks

You should have someone look at the system. The controller you have now can probably be repaired. Call a local sprinkler supply house ( Ewing, Hydroscape or John Deere) should know someone. Tell them the scoop and see who they recommend.

Toro will still repair their old controllers at the factory in California - aside from repair, there is a specific assembly that Toro makes to allow for modern electric controllers to replace the old hydraulic controllers. They are expensive, on the order of about $40 per zone.
