Zone only works when bleed screw is open

Quoted from "mrfixit" Are you saying the valve comes on stronger when you open the bleeder screw? If so then the diaphragm needs to be changed. 45 lbs isn't much. That rotor is sucking a lot of water. Maybe put a smaller nozzle in it. Ideally you want all the same type of sprinlers on one zone. All sprays or all rotors. Yes I know, you're covering a larger area that the sprays wont reach. No worries, the sprinkler police wont get you. I'm not understanding. The valve doesn't come on at all unle...

Zone only works when bleed screw is open

I have one zone that only works when the bleed screw is open slightly. Of course, with the bleed screw open, water leaks out. The zone has 5 heads on it (4 are popup spray heads, either half circle or full circle) and one is a popup rotor. The zone has about 45 psi. I cleaned the valve and the sprinkler system is driven from a pump that draws from a well. I recently replaced the pump that gave my a little more pressure, the zone had about 35 psi before. Any ideas what is wrong?

What is this?

I have a zone that isn't working and while searching for the valve yesterday, I found . What are they? I found 4 of them so far. One is hooked to each of the 2 valves I found. I'm not sure where the other two go and I have 3 move valves to find.

Pump loosing prime, output fluctuates

I just installed a new pump as my old one cracked over the weekend. I noticed that the pump doesn't keep prime. When I do get prime back, the PSI fluctuates a lot (from around 10 to 35) There is also a gauge on my well that shows negative pressure and that goes down to 0 after a couple hours. I have a backflow preventer on the line that was replaced last year, could it have gone bad already? Any other ideas as to why I might be loosing prime, the PSI fluctuates and the pressure on my well drops?

Pump accidentally ran

I live in Michigan and on Christmas Day I had at least 6" of snow on the ground. I lost power a couple days earlier and when it came back it rest my controller. When I left for church I noticed that my sprinkler pump was on and had been running for about an hour and a half. When I noticed it, water was shooting out of the pump (I think it was from where the water area bolts to the motor). I'm thinking it ran 3 zones. Is there anything I should do now? How do I tell if my pump is cracked or just ...

Pump control

Do all timers have a spot to turn on a pump automatically? I'm looking to replace my current timer with https://www.menards.com/main/outdoors/watering-irrigation/underground-sprinkler-systems/sprinkler-timers/9-station-indoor-outdoor-swing-panel-timer/p-1444450328355-c-8669.htm?tid=1241977124831227427 but I want to make sure it will turn on my well pump before I buy it.

Problem with a zone

Quoted from "mrfixit" I'd say it's either a wiring issue where there's a loose connection making intermittent contact or there's something wrong with the valve. There's a good chance it's the valve. Once a valve starts sticking like that, one of these days it's going to stick on and not shut off. I don't know which valve you have but go out there and turn it on manually and listen to it. Does it squeal or complain that it doesn't want to come on or take a while to come on? If it does i'd repair...

Problem with a zone

Update: It just started working on its own. I wonder if the valve is going and it wouldn't open on the mornings that it was cold out.

Problem with a zone

I started my spinkler system last month and it all works, except one zone only works intermittently. When my system runs automatically from the timer, one of my zones don't work. If I run it in a pseudo manual way, it works. When I say pseudo manual, I set my timer to run each zone for 5 minutes. Since it works that way, I don't think it is the controller or the valve. Does anyone have any ideas?

Find pipes

I know there is a tool to use to find valves but is there a way to find the existing pipes? I want to add a sprinkler head to a zone but not sure if there is already a pipe running by the location or if I need to run new.

Drip irrigation for garden

I am going to put in a new garden this year in an area that already has popup sprinklers. The garden will take over all of the existing zone and I would like to put in drip irrigation for it. How do I go about converting me existing zone to drip? Is there something that I can replace an existing head with? What is the best/easiest way to cap the heads so that they don't run?

Sprinkler pump has low, varying psi (depends on zone)

I thought I would update this. I had someone out to look at this. They acid flushed my well, replumbed it so that I have a T in case I need to test again and now I'm constantly getting around 35PSI. Zones cover a lot better too.

Sprinkler pump has low, varying psi (depends on zone)

I saw your post on flushing the well Low Pressure: Is it the pump, shallow well, or something else?. What if I don't have a connection to backflush it?

Sprinkler pump has low, varying psi (depends on zone)

Quoted from "Wet_Boots" Is this a well point? I'm not sure if it is, I think it is. Quoted from "Wet_Boots" The one zone with low pressure might have a leak. I will have to check but I didn't see any water pooling any where. If I don't need high pressure, is there a way to get better coverage with my sprinklers other than adding new zones/heads? Right now, my front yard had 4 heads and the middle and each corner doesn't have any coverage. The overlap is non-existent. I also hear hissing and/or ...
