those "dial" type controllers can get a little erratic when the switch contacts get old - try activating a cycle and seeing if you can switch it off with the dial

controller box is in "off" position but the system comes on at regular time

I have a Hunter SRC plus controller box (11 years old). We have a whole house voltage eater and surge protection system. No storms lately.
Because we have had rain recently I turned the box to the "off" position. This morning the system started up at it's regular time and cycled through the regular program. Any ideas of why the system would start up when the control box is in "off" position?
