Some additional information would be helpful. Do you know what kind of backflow it is? Is it venting out of a relief port in the bottom, or spilling out of the top? How close to the backflow were you working and what kind of work did you do? Has the backflow been subject to freezing temperatures? Does it gush all the time, or only when the sprinklers are operating?

Backflow device gushing water since I fixed damaged pipe leading to valves

I fixed a damaged pipe (one of two leading from backflow valve) and now the backflow valve gushes water. I am TOTAL NOVICE with sprinklers. HELP?
